Advanced EMT Classes at Trinity EMS Academy

Formerly known as Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate (EMT-I), the Trinity EMS Academy Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), an approximately 3-month course, is the newest EMS certification adopted by the state of Georgia and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). It is the next step in a student’s career after completing their education as an emergency medical technician, offering the highest level of education a student can achieve prior to becoming a paramedic. It exceeds the abilities of an EMT with a higher level of technical knowledge and skills.

Students will learn advanced airway techniques; intravenous, intramuscular, intraosseous, subcutaneous, and intranasal medication administration. In addition, students will also learn medications and procedures for pain relief and narcotic overdose. By learning these and other advanced procedures, students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform patient assessments and deliver medical, trauma, respiratory, and cardiac care to the patients they serve.

Completion of the course requires classroom instruction, as well as clinical hands-on field work. This will be completed while riding as a third member of an ambulance crew with a local ambulance service for a predetermined number of hours. It will also be completed while working in a clinical setting, as part of a local hospital emergency department. Both methods of clinical hands-on field work will be under the direct supervision of a state of Georgia approved clinical preceptor. These will also be for a predetermined number of hours.

Enrollment Requirements

  • Picture ID
  • GA EMT completion certificate or NREMT certification
  • Current BLS CPR card
  • 18-years-old by the end of the course
  • Criminal History Background Check
  • Please visit your local Sherriff's Office or Police Department
  • Must be completed prior to the Clinicals portion of the course

I attended Trinity EMS Academy for my AEMT. Best decision ever. I worked with wonderful, well-qualified people, gained invaluable experience, and completed the course feeling thoroughly prepared for the NREMT psychomotor and cognitive exams. On top of that, they maintained a spiritual atmosphere, which I greatly appreciated. Well worth the investment!
