Emergency Medical Technician - Responder At 
Trinity EMS Academy

 Formerly known as Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), the State of Georgia's has adopted a new entry level position within the Emergency Medical Services profession, Emergency Medical Technician - Responder (EMT-R).  Lasting approximately 3 - 4 months, this course is designed to teach individuals who respond to emergency situations basic lifesaving treatment, procedures, and diagnostic tests, such as vital signs, until advanced help arrives.

EMT-R training involves the primary skills needed for emergency treatment, from performing patient assessments to delivering respiratory and emergency cardiac care. Students will also receive instruction in emergency childbirth, bleeding control, and stabilization of fractures.

Other areas of training include Preparatory, Airway, Patient Assessment, Circulatory Management, etc. Additionally, upon completion of the course, the students will understand how to use and properly maintain equipment routinely found in an ambulance, such as splints, stretchers, and backboards.
